Philadelphia Flyers (English Philadelphia Flyers) are a team of professional ice hockey, which is part of the National Hockey League, located in Philadelphia (USA).
In the early 1930s, the Pittsburgh Pirates in the NHL were renamed and moved to Philadelphia Quakers, after only one season when Philadelphia won only four of its 44 games, the Quakers were dissolved by the league.
Before the arrival of the Flyers in 1967, several teams of professional and minor circuits worked in Philadelphia, when the NHL began looking for new cities for expansion in 1967, plans a major new arena were already underway. Immediately granted the franchise to Bill Putnam and Jerry Wolman, they bought the franchise of the Quebec Aces of the American Hockey League club to make their school.

Then they did sign free agents John Gauthier, Leon Rochefort and Brit Selby, while Claude Laforge, John Hanna, Simon Nolet, Andre Lacroix and Jean-Guy Gendron came to Philadelphia from the Quebec Aces. Respectable first season where they finished in first place in the weak Western Division. In the last month of the season, the roof of Spectrum collapsed after a storm last spring and the Flyers play their home games at the Quebec Coliseum ... the St. Louis Blues were eliminated in seven games in the first round. Ups and downs during the next four seasons, the Flyers were missing the playoffs twice and were out front with two other occasions.
