The football section of FC Barcelona (whose official name in Catalan is Futbol Club Barcelona and Barca diminutive) is a Spanish football club founded in 1899, which operates in the Spanish league football.
The history of FC Barcelona made it a standard-bearers of Catalonia and Catalan, a role underscored by its motto Més than a club "(in French:" more than a club "). Thus, it nourishes a very old and deep rivalry with Real Madrid, the club from the Spanish capital. Their duel, known as El Clásico, regularly decides the outcome of the Spanish league with two clubs dominate the charts. The club is headed by Sandro Rosell, who was elected president June 13, 2010 for a six-year term, succeeding Joan Laporta. His coach since 2008 Josep Guardiola, the former Spanish international player trained in Barcelona, which leads to his first season at the club a unique sixfold.
