515 km / h peak for a record 495 km / h: the new global benchmark rate for an electric car. It was established on August 24 on the famous Bonneville Salt Flats (Utah State) by the Venturi Jamais Contente, a vehicle built by a team from the State University of Ohio with support from the car manufacturer French Venturi sports. This performance, conducted by American driver Roger Schroer, smashed the record of 394 km / h held since 1999 by the White Lightning car. As the approval process requires, the new record was established from the average of two races thrown a mile away, taken in two 20 km course in the opposite direction (to cancel the possible effects of wind ). The car, a prototype built for the record, provided for the propulsion of a special pack of lithium-ion batteries powering a 600 kW electric motor of 800 hp. The French name Jamais Contente (different from the name Buckeye Bullet 2.5 brought the U.S.) pays homage to the electric car of the same name, the first vehicle to cross the bar of 100 km / h on roads in 1899.
