VLC media player is a media player extremely lightweight. Consumer Resources program has been minimized to work perfectly in the background or on systems with modest power. It is a compelling alternative to Windows Media Player face and many other programs using the foundation of Microsoft Reader. A special feature of this player is that it does not require installing additional codecs to work properly. This is without doubt a valuable benefit because it is no longer necessary to install many codecs together in packs to play a video compression format that is new to a traditional reader! VLC media player is, however, able to read and audio formats of video files in a completely autonomous with a much better made through post-processing image and sound quality superior. VLC media player is able to read, among others, Mpeg-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, AAC, MP3, OGG, AVI, WMV, MOV etc..
Besides the classic functions of reading audio or video source, Videolan also offers decoding network stream (watch any WebTV for example), the multi-streaming protocol, the encoding on the fly burning CD and DVD, etc.. Among the newest features integrated into the program include the timeshift (pause a streaming flow), the ability to play Blu-Ray and HD formats, pause and instant customization of the interface. In this new version, the media player handles the decoding by the GPU via DxVA2 for videos in H.264 and VC-1. VLC also supports new codecs, formats and protocols: The tracks of subtitles for Blu-Ray and HD DVB, the Atrac1, AMR, WMA Voice, playlists, ZPL and WPL as well as DVD-Audio . Finally, VLC includes a platform extensions based LUA scripts that allow, for example, find info, subtitles, lyrics, etc.. without leaving the reader.
